Start of the first stage. After a short sail along the Drac and Champsaur mountain pastures, the roadbook brings us to the first pass of the trip, the Moissière Pass. From there, we begin the loop around the Ecrin massif and initiate a long descent towards Serre-Ponton lake, 825m, where we spent the rest of the day on the Saint-Michel beach.

For this 3rd stage, we quit briefly the massif of Les Ecrins for a long intrusion into the massif of Queyras, via the mythic Izoard Pass and its lunar landscape, altitude 2360m. From there, we go down to Briançon, where we can enjoy its incredible mountain fortifications. Then, few miles from there, we join Saint Chaffrey for the stop of the day, in an old village house from the XVII century, with magnificent wooden rooms.
After a country ride in Serre-Chevalier valley, we join the Lautaret pass road, easy-going, which brings us to 2000m and an incredible view on Les Ecrins glacier. Volunteers will then pursue to the mythic Galibier pass 600m higher. We move then down to the Haute-Romanche valley, along the La Meije peak, to settle down in Bourg d’Oisans.
A short stage who only starts in the late evening…
To give time to the one’s up early to enjoy the ascent of the famous Alpe d’Huez ascent and its 21 hairpin bends. Then the crossing of the green valley of Ornon pass allow us to rally the Valbonnais village for a final swim, walk, or nap…
For this final stage, we will join first the Sautet lake, and then choose, to close the Ecrin loop, between 2 itineraries: the Souloise gorge and the Devoluy massif, or the overhanging balcony of the Napoléon’s road. Back to “La Crémaillère” at the end of the afternoon for the last supper.
